The Worlds most Expensive Whiskey

Anyone who knows about fine whiskeys will tell you that the Macallan is the gold standard. A 12 year old entry level bottle of the Macallan costs about $90.00 CAN or $50.00 USD and is an excellent choice as an affordable single malt whiskey.
It's an especially good bargain if you consider that the oldest Macallan, a 64 year old single malt, sold for a record breaking $450,000 USD. It was purchased in 2010 at a Sotheby's auction in new york. To help put that number in perspective, the only bottle of 64 year old Glenfiddich in existence sold for $20,000.
Of course the Macallan is not the only whiskey with a 6 figure price tag. Another incredible whiskey of note is the Dalmore 62. The last bottle of the Dalmore 62, released from the personal collection of Master Distiller Richard Paterson, was sold at Changi Airport for US$200,000 last September.
The Chairman of Whyte & Mackay and United Spirits, said of the purchase: "The record breaking Dalmore 62 is an absolute bargain in my mind. The owner of this fabulous bottle now owns one of the rarest and most exclusive whiskies in the world. It's a fantastic investment, rising in value by £100,000 in ten years. How much will it be worth in another ten years?"
'in 2005 someone bought a bottle at a hotel bar for $53,000.00 he then sat there and drank almost all of it.'
His assessment of the investment is likely spot on considering that only 12 bottles were ever produced. Not to mention the recent global skyrocketing of whiskey prices. Back in 2002 a bottle went for what then seemed an insane $35,200 and in 2005 someone bought a bottle at a hotel bar for $53,000.00 he then sat there and drank almost all of it.
